NOCTURNAL EMOTIONS, hosted by indie-rock provocateur Har Mar Superstar, is a loose, improvisational interview show, during which the singer (given name Sean Tillmann) chats up his fascinating friends during the wee hours of the night.
“Har Mar knows everybody, and everybody loves Har Mar,” says Scott Aukerman, Chief Creative Officer of Earwolf and host of COMEDY BANG! BANG! “The fact that he’s so friendly makes him a great interviewer, but anyone who’s ever seen him live knows that this podcast has the potential to go off the rails at any time. Add to that the late hour during which he records, and you have a unique show that we’re really excited about.”
New episodes of NOCTURNAL EMOTIONS will be released Wednesdays on Earwolf.com and iTunes. Subscribe for free!
“The interview took place on January 24, 2010. It was the night of Har Mar Superstar’s performance at Chop Suey in Seattle. It was also the night of the Vikings’ loss in the NFC Championship. I was supposed to meet Tillmann at the venue at 8pm, but the native Minnesotan was across the street at a pizza joint, where he had been watching the game.
For approximately 25 minutes, we had a conversation on a variety of topics, which spanned from death to Kool Keith and songwriting to starring in Ghostbusters 3.”
Whip It! comes out on DVD tomorrow. I have a song on the soundtrack and appear as a roller derby coach. It’s a sweet, awesome movie. Support Drew and the awesome cast. Check it out!

Everyone please go see “Whip It” this weekend. It’s a great movie that has action, comedy, and a good heart. (I’m in it for a second, too!) This is Drew Barrymore’s directorial debut, and she did an amazing job. Support it! Also, stay through the end credits and / or get the soundtrack to hear “Never My Love,” a cover of the classic Association song I did with Adam Green, Flowers of Doom & Flea on the horns.
